How to Submit a Cancellation Request

Valid channels · What we need · Response time

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via one of the two accepted channels below. Verbal cancellations — including phone calls, in-person requests, or voice notes — are not considered valid and will not be processed under this Andaman tour cancellation policy.

Email

Send your cancellation request to our official booking email address. Include your booking reference number, travel dates, and full name.

WhatsApp (Text Only)

Send a written WhatsApp message to +91 70639 16873. Voice notes and voice calls do not constitute a valid written cancellation.

What Your Request Must Include

  • Full name of the lead guest as per booking
  • Booking reference number or confirmation date
  • Travel dates of the booking being cancelled
  • Reason for cancellation (optional but helpful)
  • Number of persons being cancelled (partial or full group)
  • Bank account details for refund (if applicable), including account number, IFSC, and account holder name

The date and time of receipt of your written request by Gallivanting Tours shall be the reference point for determining the applicable cancellation tier — not the date of sending. Please ensure your request is submitted during business hours. Requests received outside business hours will be processed on the next working day.

Administrative Charges

A minimum administrative charge applies to all cancellations processed after booking confirmation — regardless of the cancellation timeline under this Andaman tour cancellation policy:

₹1,000
per person · non-waivable Minimum administrative charge applicable on all cancellations after booking confirmation. This covers processing, communication, and documentation costs and is in addition to any applicable cancellation percentage.

This administrative charge is applicable on every cancellation, even where the standard Andaman cancellation charges table shows only the booking/advance fee. It is non-waivable under any circumstances.

02

Cancellation Charges Important

These will be communicated at the time of booking and shall take precedence over the standard table above. Please check your booking confirmation for any peak-season amendments.

Non-Refundable Components

Regardless of the cancellation timeline or the applicable charge tier under this Andaman tour cancellation policy, the following items are non-refundable in all circumstances:

  • Booking advances and confirmation fees
  • Confirmed and issued ferry and speedboat tickets
  • Hotel reservations booked under non-refundable rate policies
  • Permit fees, entry fees, and government-charged levies
  • Activity bookings confirmed and paid to third-party operators
  • Administrative charges (₹1,000 per person)
03

Hotel Cancellation Policy

Property-specific terms · Non-refundable rates · Peak season

Hotel accommodations in the Andaman Islands are booked on your behalf by Gallivanting Tours with individual hotel properties. Each hotel operates under its own cancellation and refund policy, which forms a binding part of your booking. This section of our Andaman tour cancellation policy explains how hotel cancellations work.

Refundable vs. Non-Refundable Rates

Where packages include hotels booked under standard refundable rates, the hotel cancellation policy and our package cancellation policy apply simultaneously. The more restrictive of the two shall determine the refundable amount. Hotels booked under non-refundable or advance-purchase rate plans are never refundable, regardless of when cancellation is made.

Peak Season & Long Weekend Bookings

During peak periods (December 15 – January 15 and national long weekends), most Andaman hotel properties enforce strict non-refundable policies from the moment of booking confirmation. In such cases, Gallivanting Tours is unable to recover the accommodation cost on your behalf, and no hotel refund can be passed on.

Partial Cancellations

Where a guest reduces the number of nights or rooms mid-trip or prior to travel, the reduction is subject to the individual hotel's short-notice policy. Gallivanting Tours will request the reduction on your behalf but cannot guarantee waiver of charges. Any costs recovered from the hotel will be passed on to the guest; amounts not recovered cannot be refunded.

Hotel Unavailability

In the event that a confirmed hotel becomes unavailable due to overbooking or unforeseen closure, Gallivanting Tours will arrange equivalent or higher-category accommodation at no additional cost. Where this is not possible, a proportionate refund of the accommodation component will be processed.

Early check-in and late check-out are subject to hotel availability and are never guaranteed. Any additional charges for these, levied directly by the hotel, are the guest's responsibility and are non-reimbursable.

04

Ferry & Cruise Cancellation Policy

Operator terms · Weather cancellations · Schedule changes

Inter-island ferry and cruise services are operated by independent third-party operators. Gallivanting Tours books ferry tickets on behalf of guests and is bound by the respective operator's fare and cancellation rules. This section of our Andaman tour cancellation policy outlines how ferry cancellations are handled.

Ferry Tickets are Generally Non-Refundable

Once confirmed and issued, ferry tickets are generally non-refundable. Most ferry operators in the Andaman Islands do not permit cancellation or rescheduling of confirmed bookings. The exact refund or rescheduling policy of the operator shall govern in all cases. Gallivanting Tours will communicate the applicable operator policy at the time of booking.

Weather & Operational Cancellations by Operator

If a ferry is cancelled by the operator due to adverse weather, technical failure, port suspension, or government directive, Gallivanting Tours will assist in rebooking the next available sailing at no additional cost. If rebooking is not possible within the trip period, refund eligibility depends entirely on the operator's own policy. Gallivanting Tours will pass on whatever recovery is made from the operator. We cannot refund more than what the operator returns to us.

Schedule Changes by Operator

Ferry operators may alter departure times, reroute vessels, or substitute vessels without prior notice. Gallivanting Tours will notify guests of material schedule changes as soon as we are informed. We are not liable for consequential costs — such as extended hotel stays or rebooking of flights — arising from operator schedule changes.

Late Arrival at Jetty

Guests are required to report at the ferry jetty at least 45 minutes before scheduled departure. Late arrivals who miss a confirmed ferry sailing forfeit their ticket with no refund or rescheduling entitlement. Gallivanting Tours will not be able to recover the ticket cost in such cases.

Important advisory: Do not plan any onward travel — flights, trains, or buses from Port Blair — on the same day as an inter-island ferry crossing. Weather disruptions and ferry delays are common and unpredictable. Gallivanting Tours shall not be responsible for missed onward connections caused by ferry delays or cancellations.

05

Flight-Related Disruptions

Delays · Cancellations · Missed connections

Flights to and from Port Blair are not included in standard Gallivanting Tours packages unless explicitly stated otherwise in your confirmed itinerary. The following policy applies to flight-related disruptions that impact your ground package under this Andaman tour cancellation policy.

Flight Cancellations or Delays Causing Late Arrival

If your inbound flight to Port Blair is cancelled, significantly delayed, or diverted — causing you to miss your scheduled arrival date — Gallivanting Tours will make reasonable efforts to adjust the itinerary on a best-efforts basis. However, pre-booked services (hotel nights, ferry tickets, activity bookings) that cannot be rescheduled may be forfeited without refund. Such costs cannot be recovered from Gallivanting Tours.

Missed Ferry Due to Flight Delay

Where a guest arrives late due to a flight delay and misses a pre-booked inter-island ferry, the ferry ticket shall be treated as a no-show and is non-refundable. Gallivanting Tours will assist in rebooking the next available ferry on a chargeable basis.

Early Departure

Where a guest chooses to depart from Port Blair earlier than the scheduled departure date — for any reason including flight reschedule, personal circumstances, or dissatisfaction — unused ground services (hotel nights remaining, pre-booked transfers, activities) shall be forfeited and are non-refundable.

Airline Liability

All claims related to flight delays, cancellations, baggage, or any other airline-related disruptions must be made directly with the respective airline under the airline's Conditions of Carriage and applicable DGCA regulations. Gallivanting Tours has no liability in relation to airline performance.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that includes flight cancellation and delay cover. In particular, direct flights to Port Blair from major Indian cities are limited, and re-routing in the event of a missed connection can take 24–48 hours. Please factor this into your travel planning.

06

No Show Policy Zero Refund

No shows · Unused services · Early departures

No refund is applicable for any no-show or unused service. This policy is absolute and no exceptions are made regardless of the reason for non-arrival or early departure.

The following are treated as "No Show" situations under this Andaman tour cancellation policy and attract a 100% forfeiture of the package value:

  • Failure to arrive at Port Blair on the booking date
  • Failure to check in to a booked hotel
  • Unused hotel nights after the first check-in night
  • Missed ferry or boat transfers
  • Unused vehicle transfers or sightseeing
  • Booked activity or water sports sessions not attended
  • Early departure before the scheduled check-out date
  • Denial of boarding at any point due to guest's failure to comply
Unused Services Are Non-Refundable

Where a guest chooses not to use any part of a confirmed and active itinerary — including hotels after the first night, ferry tickets, transfers, or included activities — those services are deemed used and will not attract any refund or credit.

Early Departures

Where a guest departs from Port Blair or any island location before the scheduled last day — for any reason, including personal preference, medical reasons, or force of circumstance — the unused nights and services from the date of early departure onwards are forfeited in full. No refund shall be payable for these unutilised services.

07

Force Majeure Policy Key Clause

Cyclones · Port closures · Government restrictions · Natural events

A Force Majeure event is defined as any event, circumstance, or occurrence that is outside the reasonable control of Gallivanting Tours, rendering performance of services impossible, impractical, or unsafe. In such situations, standard cancellation and refund rules are suspended and are replaced by the terms set out in this section of our Andaman tour cancellation policy.

What Constitutes a Force Majeure Event

  • Cyclones, storms, and severe weather
  • Tsunami, earthquake, or seismic events
  • Flooding, landslides, and natural disasters
  • Pandemic, epidemic, or public health emergency
  • Government restrictions, lockdowns, or directives
  • Port closures or navigational suspensions
  • Inter-island ferry suspension by government or operator
  • Airport closures or flight bans
  • Political unrest, civil disturbance, or curfew
  • Strikes or industrial action by key service providers
  • Acts of terrorism or public safety emergencies
  • Any event beyond our reasonable control
What Happens in a Force Majeure Situation

Where a Force Majeure event directly prevents or significantly disrupts the delivery of your booked services, Gallivanting Tours will:

  • Notify you as soon as practically possible of the event and its impact on your booking.
  • Make all reasonable efforts to provide alternative services, a rescheduled itinerary, or substitute activities of comparable value.
  • Where alternatives are not possible, apply for refunds from the relevant suppliers (hotels, ferry operators, etc.) on your behalf.
  • Pass on any amounts recovered from suppliers to you as a proportionate refund, after deducting any irrecoverable costs and administrative expenses.
Limitation of Refund in Force Majeure

Gallivanting Tours' ability to refund in Force Majeure situations is entirely dependent on recovery of funds from the relevant suppliers. We cannot refund any amount that has been paid to — and not recovered from — a third-party supplier such as a hotel, ferry operator, or activity provider. Gallivanting Tours will not be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss arising from Force Majeure events.

Cyclone Season Advisory: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands experience cyclone and severe weather activity typically between May and November. Travel during this period carries inherent weather risk, including the possibility of port closures and multi-day disruptions. Gallivanting Tours strongly recommends purchasing comprehensive travel insurance with weather disruption and trip cancellation coverage for any travel during this period.

Travel insurance is the most effective protection against Force Majeure losses. A comprehensive policy that covers cyclone and weather disruption, trip cancellation, emergency evacuation, and accommodation costs is strongly recommended for all Andaman bookings. See our full Terms & Conditions (Section 16) for insurance recommendations.

Refund Processing Timeline

How long refunds take · What affects the timeline · Payment methods

Important: Refund processing generally takes 30–90 business days after receipt of funds from the respective suppliers. Timelines may vary significantly based on individual supplier policies, hotel refund cycles, and ferry operator processes. We appreciate your patience — we will keep you updated throughout the process.

The refund process involves multiple stages, each of which is subject to third-party timelines beyond Gallivanting Tours' direct control. This section of our Andaman tour cancellation policy outlines what to expect.

Step 1 — Cancellation Confirmed by Gallivanting Tours

We acknowledge your written cancellation request, calculate the applicable charge, and confirm the refundable amount in writing. This typically happens within 2–3 working days of receiving your request.

Step 2 — Supplier Refund Recovery

Gallivanting Tours initiates refund requests with all relevant suppliers — hotels, ferry operators, and activity providers. This process can take 15–60 business days depending on the supplier. Some suppliers in the Andaman Islands operate on longer refund cycles, particularly during and after peak season.

Step 3 — Refund Disbursed to Guest

Once funds are received from the respective suppliers, Gallivanting Tours processes the eligible refund to the guest via the original mode of payment or bank transfer (NEFT/RTGS/UPI) as agreed. Bank transfer typically reflects within 3–5 working days of processing.

Payment & Bank Charges

  • Refunds will be made via the original mode of payment, or via bank transfer where agreed in writing.
  • Gallivanting Tours shall not be liable for any bank charges, payment gateway fees, GST reversals, foreign exchange differences, or processing deductions that may be applied by the payment intermediary.
  • Where payment was made in foreign currency, refunds will be processed in Indian Rupees at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of refund processing. Gallivanting Tours is not responsible for exchange rate differences.
  • Refund confirmation will be provided to the guest in writing (email or WhatsApp) at the time of processing.
Partial Refunds

Where a partial refund is applicable — for instance, where some services were non-refundable and others were refundable — a detailed refund breakdown will be provided in writing before the refund is processed. You will have the opportunity to raise any queries on the breakdown before finalisation.

Refund status updates: Gallivanting Tours will proactively update you on the status of your refund, including confirmation of supplier requests and expected timelines. You are always welcome to follow up via WhatsApp or email — we will respond within 2 working days.
